Message	Toyota Alessandro Volta Toyota made big news in Geneva, unveiling this beautiful hybrid-powered sports car. Designed by Italdesign-Giugiaro, the Alessandro Volta—named after the Italian scientist who discovered the battery—features a carbon-fiber chassis and the same 3.3-liter V-6 and dual electric motors as the Lexus RX400h and Toyota Highlander hybrids. In the Volta, the mid-mounted powerplant is said to produce 402 horsepower. The second electric motor powers the front wheels, providing four-wheel traction without the need for a transmission shaft. Toyota says the Volta demonstrates the potential and flexibility of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system.
